1. The teacher teaching the course must be a valid member of The Acupressure in First Aid Federation, Hong Kong (HKAFA) and a holder of the HKAFA Teacher Certificate at the time of teaching the course.
2. The number of persons attending the class shall not be less than twelve. (Note: If the class is to be used by prospective teachers as a practical test for the AFA Teacher Certificate Examination, it must comply with the requirements set out in the Hong Kong China Life Saving Society's Examination Rules and Regulations).
3. The total number of hours shall not be less than six (6) hours (excluding examinations).
4. Each class shall be no more than three hours in length.
5. May not attend more than one class in a day.
6. Not less than fourteen (14) days from the first class to the assessment.
7. Recommendation: The course should be organized in three two-hour sessions, with an additional day for examination.
8. Course design that does not conform to items 1-6 must be approved by the Executive Committee.
9. For the purpose of monitoring the quality of the courses, the Executive Committee reserves the right to inspect each course.
10. Teachers are required to use the standard teaching materials published by the Association and compiled by Dr. Patrick Yeung to ensure the quality of the curriculum.
Provision of AFA Certificate Course and Application Procedures for Examination
1. Application form AFA-T01 (sample form can be downloaded from our website) submitted by a registered teacher.
i) by mail or in person at our Service Station (Block A, 3/F, Shung Lan Mansion, 37 Leighton Road, Happy Valley, Hong Kong), or
2. The teacher must have paid the membership fee for the year.
3. Teaching materials and textbooks can be purchased at our kiosks.
4. At least 14 days in advance of the commencement date of the shift
5. Confirm the number of participants to the Course Director within 7 days after the successful commencement of the course.
6. Confirm the candidate's name with the Course Director10 days prior to the examination date
7. The Course Director will contact the Examination Director to arrange for an assessor to conduct the examination after receiving all the information from the candidates
8. The teacher should bring along the completed examination form of AFA Certificate of Hong Kong, China Life Saving Society on the examination day.

9. Upon completion of the examination, the teacher shall submit the examination form for AFA Certificate of Hong Kong, China Life Saving Society, duly signed by the assessor, to the office of AFA Chairman (Room 1002, Lok Kee Commercial Centre, 103 Des Voeux Road West, Hong Kong) for the Chairman's endorsement.
Note: Teachers must notify the Chairman in advance by calling 9152-8945 when they go to the office because the Chairman may need to go out on official business.
10. Teachers should submit the stamped examination forms, together with the application form for a non-public examination period and a cheque for the examination fee payable to Hong Kong, China Life Saving Society to the office of HKLSS (21st Floor, Texaco Building, 258 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong) for processing.
11. Upon completion of the class, the teacher should fill in the course summary form (sample form can be downloaded from our website) and send it by post or return it to our kiosk for record.
Code of Practice and Guidelines for Application for AFA Certificate Examination
1. According to item 4 of the “Procedures for AFA Certificate Courses and Application for Examination”, teachers should complete the “Hong Kong, China Life Saving Society AFA Certificate Examination Form” and pay attention to the following items when applying for the examination:
A. Please fill in all items in block letters.
B. Completion may be accomplished using computer software or with a black or blue ink pen or ballpoint pen.
C. Teachers must clearly fill out the following items:
i. Candidate's middle and English name, gender and contact phone number.
ii. The name of the club or organization.
iii. The date, time and venue of the examination, and
iv. Teacher's name in English and contact telephone number (office and home).
D. We recommend that the following fields be filled in as clearly and correctly as possible:
i. Candidate's HKLSS logbook number, identity card number, age and date of birth; and
ii. Teacher's ID number.
E. Teachers are not allowed to fill in fields other than those mentioned above.
F. Just in case the number of candidates is more than twelve and multiples thereof, the teacher must complete one examination form and move on to the next, and so on.
2. To change the reported notes for the examination:
A. The date, time and venue of the declared examination shall not be changed without the approval of the Examination Director.
B. Any change in the date, time and venue of the declared examination must be submitted to the Course Director by email to hkafa.training@gmail.com on or before 10 days prior to the proposed date of the examination, together with the changed “Application for AFA Training Course” ( Form AFA-T01 ) and the relevant examination form. (Example: The examination date applied for is July 1, 2024; it is now changed to July 3, 2024) Teachers must apply on or before June 23, 2024)
C. All changes to the proposed examination date must be made after the declared examination date.
D. Just in case inclement weather prevents the examination from being held, item 2B above shall not apply.
3. While the examination is in progress.
A. Teachers and all teaching assistants must be present.
B. Teachers are not permitted to alter any information on the examination form except with the permission of the assessor.
4. There shall not be any deletion of the number of candidates on the examination form. Otherwise, AFA Association will not stamp the examination form; however, Hong Kong, China Life Saving Society will not process the examination result.
Objective: To test candidates' knowledge of AFA. Candidates should have knowledge of 18 meridian points and be able to handle 11 specified accidents.
Reward: A certificate and a cloth badge.
Eligibility: Aged 14 or above.
Examination Procedures
Part A (Oral Test):
1. To explain clearly the operation of AFA and the functions and locations of acupuncture points.
2. Explain the symptoms and management of eleven accidental diseases.
Part B (Practical Test):
By drawing lots, two questions will be drawn from the question card (eleven specified types of accidents), and they will practice the handling of the accidents listed on the question card, the correct location of the acupoints to be pressed, and the techniques to be used.

6. have assisted in teaching two or more classes (not less than 15 candidates per class) of AFA Certificate training course;

Practice Tests:
To supervise a class of not less than fifteen candidates in the AFA Certificate training course with a pass rate of not less than 90%.

1. Examiner / Teacher / Affiliate Member of Hong Kong, China Life Saving Society (HKLSS) and Member of the Hong Kong AFA Association.

4. To assist in teaching at least one AFA class within two consecutive years with good performance.
5. Complete the required application form and return it with the fee to the Association.
6. Recommended by the Training Officer and confirmed by the Committee
Advanced AFA Teacher

1. Registered AFA Teacher
2. To assist in teaching at least ten AFA classes within three consecutive years with good performance.
3. Length of Service: 4 years or more
4. Holders of FAI or nurse
5. Recommended by the Training Officer and confirmed by the Committee
AFA Trainer

1. Registered Advanced AFA Teacher
2. Teaching not less than three classes of Advanced AFA within a period of two consecutive years, with at least one class per year in each of the two years in which he/she performs satisfactorily.
3. Length of Service: 6 years or more

3. Teach no less than three Advanced AFA classes over a period of two consecutive years, with at least one class per year during that period.
4. Participated in the AFA Workshop organized by the Association.
5. Participate as an assessor for a period of three consecutive years, during which time you will assist in the assessment of at least ten (10) AFA duty per year.
6. Length of Service: 4 years or more
7. Recommended by the AFA Association and confirmed by the Examination Committee of the Association.
8. Once appointed, he/she shall assist the assessor not less than ten times a year.
AFA Teacher Assessor
Conditions of Appointment:
1. Advanced AFA Assessor
2. Registered Advanced AFA Teacher
3. Assisted in teaching AFA Teacher Training Course for two consecutive years with good performance.
4. Participate as an assessor for a period of two consecutive years, during which time he/she will assist in the assessment of at least four (4) AFA Courses and two (2) Advanced AFA Courses per year.
5. Length of Service: 6 years or more
6. Recommended by AFA Association and confirmed by the Examination Committee of the Association.
7. Once appointed, he/she shall assist the assessor not less than ten times a year.
